MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday said that 30.5 million people of Southern Punjab were deprived of basic necessities of life and a separate province could solve the problem for them.
While addressing Seraikistan Unity Conference in Adda Band Bosan, Qureshi said that people of Southern Punjab were deprived of their basic rights to clean drinking water, health and education.
Qureshi remarked that the southern region was suffering from injustice, intentional or unintentional, and the land of the Seraiki people was neglected. He added that a separate Seraiki province was the need of the hour if deprivation was to be eradicated from the region.
The PTI leader criticized the government stating that over Rs 300 billion had been spent on one project in Lahore, whereas on the other hand people didn’t even have clean drinking water in Southern Punjab. He shed light on the creation of a Seraiki province as a strengthening step for the federation.
He claimed that the capital possessed the power to do so but didn’t ‘want to give us our right to a better future’.
