ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to probe the allegations of horse trading in the recently held Senate polls.
In a notification issued on Tuesday, the commission directed all the political leaders who levelled allegations of horse trading to appear before the commission with proof by march 14.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) have expressed reservations on the results over Senate polls.
PML-N former president Nawaz Sharif termed the elections as “game of money” saying this has happened in the past, but this time it was “too open and brazen”.
PTI chairman Imran Khan claimed that members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial assembly gave into horse trading.
MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar has announced he would challenge the Senate results in the ECP.
In March 3 Senate elections, PML-N backed candidates succeeded in bagging 15 seats while PTI and PPP got victory on 12 and 6 seats respectively.
