ISLAMABAD: Two prosecution witnesses on Wednesday submitted their official statements in the murder case of Dr Imran Farooq before an anti-terrorism defense court in Islamabad.
Muhammad Asif and Shahid, both of whom are associated with a private bank, documented their final statements, while ATC judge Shahrukh Arjumand conducted the case.
“It is not true that this is not a system-generated bank statement,” remarked Muhammad Asif after addressing the court. The witnesses also revealed that 24 transactions were made through Moazzam Ali’s account who happens to be one of those accused last month in the case by ATC.
“If Baloch does not appear for the next hearing we will issue arrest warrants,“ the infuriated ATC judge said, addressing the absence of the prosecution witness and former deputy director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Badruddin Baloch.
The hearing of the case, meanwhile, has been postponed till July 9.
In December 2015, the FIA registered a case against party leaders of the MQM over Farooq’s murder, while three accused were arrested in the same year as well for their culpability in the case.
The First Information Report (FIR) released mentioned relevant clauses of the Anti-Terrorism Act which referred to conspiracy and abatement.
Imran Farooq was brutally assassinated outside his own house in London on the 16th of September, 2010. The postmortem report revealed that he was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife and was also hit with a brick.
The knife and the brick were also recovered from the crime scene.
