Low visibility caused due to dense fog and over speeding claimed at least 16 lives, besides leaving dozens others injured in various districts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, the last day of 2019.
According to details, the first accident took place at GT Road near Gammon Bridge Wazirabad where a Sialkot bound van coming from Gujrat and carrying wedding guests got out of control due to low visibility caused by dense fog and it plunged in gorge. Four including a girl died on the spot in the accident while three women among 14 others were injured.
A passenger van fell down hill while negotiating a sharp turn in mountainous area of Palai at Swat Expressway in Malakand. Five people died on the spot in the accident while 18 others were injured.
In the same locality, a Swat-Rawalpindi bound passenger coach fell down the hill resultantly three people died while 14 others were injured.
Meanwhile, four members of a family died and three others injured when a vehicle fell into a ravine. According to details, a vehicle skidded off road due to careless driving and it plunged into a gorge in Qamroti area of district Kotli of AJK. The bodies and injured of all accidents were shifted to different hospitals of respective areas where condition of some wounded people was stated to be critical.
